India Vs. England Test Match:

Ollie Pope missed his double century in the first test match versus India and England scored 420 runs in the second innings with a massive 196 runs contributed by Ollie Pope.  India now needs 136 runs to win the first test match of the five test match series, with KL Rahul and Axar Patel unbeaten at the crease. Tom Hartley has given the early breakthrough for England and dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Captain Rohit Sharma. India is currently at 64/3.

Subhman Gill got out by Tom Hartley without scoring a run and India is 136 runs behind with 7 wickets in hand. Jaiswal, who scored 80 in the first innings, got out early and contributed only 15 runs. The Captain Rohit Sharma did not score big and added 39 runs before being given LBW by Tom Hartley.

India’s fielding performance was not remarkable in the second innings, which helped England to set such a big target. Jasprit Bumrah, the only pacer who got four wickets for India, and we witnessed the ball starting to reverse. The spinners also made significant contribution in the second innings and took 6 wickets altogether, where Aswin got three wickets, Rabindra Jadeja got two wickets and Axar got one.

Despite being dropped twice, Ollie Pope has played a massive role which made him a hero in modern day test cricket. The first time he was dropped by Axar Patel when he was at 110 and KL Rahul dropped his chance when he was at 186. Indian players have appreciated Ollie Pope after his dismissal, since he played a crucial role for England to set a target of 231 for India in the second innings.

The Indian middle order has to do the job for India to maintain the trend of not losing a test match in home soil since 2012/13. The top order batsmen did not contribute much, and this test match is in a very interesting position with a result looming ahead. India is just 136 runs behind the target and England needs 7 more wickets to win.
